Written in the key of E minor in “A-B-A” form. The “A” section features a Left Hand melody. Listen for the sound of “crackling” as the ice crystals shift. This is accomplished by the Left Hand crossing over the Right Hand to play shocking clusters of half notes. For a contrasting “B” section, listen for the blustery wind blowing through the icy leaves in the forest, as the eighth notes run up and down the keys in the Right Hand.
