Bailar al Sol, Piano Duet (1 Piano, 4 Hands)

$8.00

Bailar al Sol, or “Dance in the Sun”, is inspired by a style of music called, “Ranchera Valseada”. Ranchera or Canción Ranchera, being a genre of traditional music from Mexico and Valseada, the Spanish word for Waltz. You might hear this type of music in the Mariachi bands with their Guitarrón (big bass guitars) , Vihuela (5 string) Guitars, Violins, Trumpets, and Singers, as they accompany the beautiful Folklórico Dancers.

This piece is available as an Intermediate Solo or as an Early Intermediate Piano Duet (1 Piano, 4 Hands)

Written in the key of F Major and in “A-B-C-A-Coda” form.

The “A” section features a traditional Spanish type melody with iconic 6ths and triplet turns that makes you feel like a twirling dancer. The Left hand accompaniment leaps along in a Latin style Bass line and mimics the plucked Bass guitar. The “B” section offers an abrupt change to an A Major key center, bringing some drama. The “C” section takes off a beautiful scale like, lyric melody that leads to the climax of the piece in measure 59 - 67, where the sequenced figure builds and rushes ahead, until we finally find our way back to the “A” section in measure 67.
