Up on the Housetop, Easy Piano, Inspired by my Lead Sheet Book

$3.00

Up on the Housetop

Short & Sweet! Folks love to sing along with this one, so if you need to, feel free to repeat from the beginning. Use the last 4 measures as an optional Introduction or transition between repeats.

This arrangement is inspired by my Method Book - 20 Favorite Christmas Songs: How to Play Lead Sheets. Let’s get started! In this carol, we move to the key of G. Can you identify each chord symbol? There are a few new ones here. Study each chord to learn what notes belong. Have you ever seen a Slash chord before? C/G…… more information about this in my Method Book. Both hand always stay in G position, but the Right hand thumb is responsible for G & A. It’s an ideal place to start!

Bonus - Practice playing all 3 chords as repeated quarter notes and switch back & forth. Can you do this smoothly and quickly?

Teaching Suggestion: What other patterns might work well with this melody? Maybe start with whole notes or half notes, or broken triads! Encourage your student to brainstorm possibilities.

Key: G Major with Key signature

Time signature: 4/4. BPM = 164

Skill development: Left hand pattern as taught in my Method Book - 20 Favorite Christmas Songs: How to Play Lead Sheets. Study this arrangement to see how many other patterns I use, as well as: identify the chord symbols, what other chord tones are included? Find the chord symbol. Identify what notes are in the G, C, and D7 chords. Steady beat - repeated quarters. Switching back & forth smoothly & quickly between chords. Reading easy notation.

Level: Easy Piano, Elementary

How long: 16 - Too short? Play it again! Need an intro? Use the last line. 1 Page. 1:00 minute performance time.

This is a Single License: One purchase - One copy. Thank for honoring the composer’s work by not sharing with anyone. Encourage them to purchase their own copy please!
