I Remember You, D Major. Pop Ballad

$8.00

Does it really matter what key a piece is in?

That’s the question that inspired I Remember You, a pop-inspired piano solo that sparked a passionate debate among pianists on social media. This beautiful, expressive ballad is filled with warmth and nostalgia, evoking the feeling of cherished memories and joyful reflection.

This version of I Remember You in D Major was the most popular, most voted on option on Facebook and Instagram! It brings a more mellow sound, but still has that singing resonance. This version balances beauty of playing in sharps, offering a lyrical melody, modern harmonies, and chord symbols for analysis or improvisation. A wonderful solo for Early Intermediate to Intermediate players who want to play—and feel—something meaningful.

Just like regular pop tunes, the chord symbols are included. Encourage students to analyze the chords and perhaps, create their own melody OR try a different left hand pattern to go with the melody!

For more discussion, pair this piece with the blog post, Does It Really Matter What Key a Pieces is in? for a deeper dive into key choices, musical perception, and the personal connection we all have to sound.

  • Chord symbols are included on all music. Analyze them to reinforce theory.

  • Play the chords blocked while you play the original melody.
